Schumacher PS-2352-CATroubleshooting Guide
Problem
Possible Cause
Reason / Solution
Chargerwill not turn on when properly connected.
AC outlet is dead.
Check for open fuse or circuitbreaker supplying AC outlet.
Poor electrical connection.
Check power cord and extensioncord for loose fitting plug.
Battery is defective.
Have the battery checked.
ThreeLEDs come on for 2 seconds, then turn off.
The charger is plugged into an ACoutlet
No problem; This is normal.
Engine start doesnot work.
Drawing more than 200 amps
Crank time varies with theamount of current drawn. If cranking draws more than 200 amps, cranktime may be less than 5 seconds.
Faliure to wait 3 minutes (180seconds) between cranks.
When the Engine Start LED blinks, wait 3 minutes of rest time before the next crank.
Then charger may be overheated.
The thermal protector may havetripped and needs a little longer to reset. Make sure the charger ventsare not blocked. Wait and try again
Battery may beseverely discharged.
On a severely discharged battery, use the 35A Boost rate for 10 to 15minutes, to help assist in cranking.
The BoostLED is flashing.
The chargerwas left in the Boost mode for an extended period of time.
The BoostLED will flash for 30 minutes, then go off, and the Charging LED willlight, indicating the charger has switched to Charging mode.

When a charging problem arises, make certain that the battery is capable of accepting a normal charge. Double check all connections, AC outlet for a full 120-volts, charger clips for correct polarity and the quality of the connections from the cables to the clips and from the clips to the battery system. The clips must be clean.

When a battery is very cold, partially charged or sulfated, it will not draw the full rated amperes from the charger. It is both dangerous and damaging to a battery to force higher amperage into it than it can effectively use in recharging.
