PROBLEMPOSSIBLE CAUSESOLUTION
The charger is makingan audible clicking sound.Circuitbreaker is cycling.Thesettings may be wrong. Check the charger settings.
Batteryis defective.Have battery checked.
Shortedbattery cables or clips.Circuitbreaker is cycling. Check for shorted cables or clips and replace ifnecessary.
Severelydischarged battery, but otherwise it is a good battery.Allowcharging to continue until battery has a chance to recover sufficientlyto take a charge. If more than 20 minutes, stop charging and have thebattery checked.
Reverseconnections at battery.Shutthe charger off and correct the lead connections.
Charger makes a loudbuzz or hum.Transformerlaminations vibrate (buzz).Noproblem; this is a normal condition.
ShortedDiode Assembly or Output Rectifier Assembly (hum).Havecharger checked by a qualified technician.
Short or no startcycle when cranking engine.Drawingmore amps than the charger can provide.Cranktime varies with the amount of current drawn. If cranking draws moreamps than the charger can provide, crank time may be less than 3seconds.
Failureto wait 3 minutes (180 seconds) between cranks.Wait3 minutes of rest time before the next crank.
Clipsare not making a good connection.Checkfor poor connection at battery and frame.
ACcord and/or extension cord is loose.Check power cord andextension cord for loose fitting plug.
Nopower at receptacle.Checkfor open fuse or circuit breaker supplying AC outlet.
Thecharger may be overheated.Thethermal protector may have tripped and needs a little longer to reset.Make sure the charger vents are not blocked. Wait and try again.
Batterymay be severely discharged.Ona severely discharged battery, charge for 10 to 15 minutes in thehighest charge rate to help assist in cranking.
Charger will not turnon when properly connected.ACoutlet is dead.Checkfor open fuse or circuit breaker supplying AC outlet.
Poorelectrical connection.Checkpower cord and extension cord for loose fitting plug.
The battery isconnected and the charger is on, but is not charging.Clipsare not making a good connection.Checkfor poor connection at battery and frame. Make sure connecting pointsare clean. Rock clips back and forth for a better connection.
Thecharger is in tester mode, not charge mode.Pressthe Charge Rate button to activate charging and select a charge rate.
The measured currentis much lower than what was selected.Thecharger reached the maximum voltage and is reducing the current.Noproblem; this is a normal condition.
The DIGITAL DISPLAYalways flashes before the battery is completely charged.Theincorrect BATTERY TYPE may have been selected.Resetthe charger by briefly unplugging it or briefly disconnecting thenegative battery clip. Be sure to reset the charger to the propersettings.
Thebattery did not reach full charge within 24 hours.Maybe due to a very large battery or bank of batteries requiring morepower than the charger can deliver within 24 hours.
Thebattery is defective.Have battery checked.
The CHARGED (green)LED lights a few minutes after connecting to the battery.Thebattery may be fully charged or recently charged, leaving the batteryvoltage high enough to appear to be fully charged.Ifthe battery is in a vehicle, turn the headlights on for a few minutesto reduce the battery voltage and try charging again.
Theincorrect BATTERY TYPE may have been selected.Resetthe charger by briefly unplugging it or briefly disconnecting thenegative battery clip. Be sure to reset the charger to the propersettings.
Theindicator lights are lit in an erratic manner not explained in thismanual.Youmight have accidentally activated a special diagnostic mode.Makesure nothing is touching the control panel, then unplug the charger andplug it in again.
