Flap discs are constructed with thick layers of aluminum oxide or zirconium abrasive cloth, mounted on a rugged, lightweight backing plate. The backing plate dissipates heat quickly, won’t crack and does not require a backing pad. Flap discs also resharpen themselves, providing a consistent finish when cutting and grinding, never dropping off in performance. New abrasive grain is continually exposed as the layered abrasive flaps slowly wear down, providing rapid stock removal and consistent finishing. Its angled face suits the natural working angle of a grinder. This allows for maximum abrasive cloth contact with the work surface. Stock is removed more quickly, while a better surface finish is achieved.
