TPI 45 AC Volt Tester - The TPI 45 is essential to anyone determining the presence or absence of electrical voltage between 50-1,000 AC. The TPI 45 allows the user to detect a defective ground before an individual is exposed to injury. Simply touch the plastic tip to a connection point or move it along a wire. If AC voltage is present, the tip will glow red. Defective grounds can cause either voltage or an electrical field to be present on a metal casing. Both of these conditions can be detected by using the TPI 45.
Defective Grounds: Electrical equipment that has a metal enclosure and is improperly grounded or has a defective ground will always result is the Sensors tip emitting a steady red glow. If there is enough electrical field present on the metal enclosure, the result will be a steady red glow and an audible tone.
